You do not need to post every hour of a race weekend. Five posts, done properly, will do more for you and your sponsors than twenty rushed ones. Here is the plan, and what each post needs.
Monday to Wednesday: race week
Say where you are racing, which round, and when. One strong photo, the circuit name, the date. This is the post that tells people to look out for you, so post it early in the week. If you have a partner, this is a good place to name them.
Thursday or Friday: the schedule
Practice, qualifying and race times, in the order they happen. Family and friends use this to know when to watch or follow along. Keep it to the sessions that matter and check the times against the official timetable.
Saturday or race morning: qualifying
Where you start. Grid position, one line on how it went. If it went badly, say so plainly and move on. Nobody minds an honest qualifying post.
Sunday night: the result
This is the one people wait for, and the one sponsors care about most. Finishing position, grid, points if your series has them, and one real detail from the race: an overtake, a mistake, a lap that felt right. Post it the same evening while people are still interested. Take every number from the official results, not from memory.
Monday or Tuesday: thank the people who got you there
Name the partners and the team, with a reason for each. "Thanks to Dave's Tyres for the fresh set before qualifying" lands better than a list of tags. If a partner pays you or gives you product, start the post with #ad.
A few habits that make it easier
- Use the same look every time. One style, your colours, your number. People start to recognise your posts before they read them.
- Make every size at once. A feed post, a square and a story from the same photo, so you are not resizing at the track.
- Write alt text. One sentence describing the photo, so people using screen readers know what is in it.
- A bad weekend still gets a post. Sponsors notice when a driver goes quiet after a DNF. A short, honest post keeps you visible.
Do it in VLTA
- Add your race dates to the race calendar. Four days before each one, VLTA drafts the race week post in your style and emails you.
- Pick a post type: Race week, Weekend schedule, Qualifying, Result, Thank a partner. Each asks only for what it needs.
- Type the result. The graphic and the caption are written for you. Tap any word on the graphic to change it.
- Use Every size or Weekend kit to save the feed post, square and story in one go.
